YUP Lab: Micromobility lab for university students
The first edition of YUP Lab, the micromobility laboratory for university students of the company YUP, has come to an end. This initiative, promoted by the technology company YUP, creator of the first charging station for electric scooters, has brought technological innovation to university students.
Empowering Future Professionals
For three months, YUP Lab has served as a connection channel between the university and the company. This has given students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of micromobility. This first edition has included a series of talks and activities focused on Sustainable Mobility students of the Industrial Design Degree of the University of Barcelona.
The main objective has been to open doors to future professionals, empower them and show them practical cases of Catalan technology companies with a global impact.

Durante YUP Lab, los estudiantes han tenido la oportunidad de explorar temas como la Revolución Industrial 4.0, el impacto medioambiental, el Internet de las Cosas (IoT) y la neutralidad de carbono. Además, han profundizado en el proceso de creación del producto estrella de YUP, el primer parking de carga para patinetes eléctricos conocido como “TRAP“, así como en el desarrollo de otros aparcamientos para bicicletas, e-bikes y parkings que funcionan completamente con energías renovables.
Inauguration and Presentation of YUP
The micromobility lab started with a presentation by María Calleja, CMO of YUP, and Eliana Michel, Brand Manager of YUP. During this session, they introduced the company and shared how YUP evolved from a smartphone charging station company to become the national leader in parking and charging solutions for electric scooters.
Origin of the Initiative
This initiative was made possible thanks to the recognition received by YUP's bicycle and e-bike parking, SOCA, at the ADI awards. It stood out for its innovative design and its contribution to contemporary life while respecting the environment and promoting the circular economy in 2022.
YUP is a company specialized in parking and charging solutions for personal micromobility vehicles. Since its founding in 2020 by siblings Branco and María Calleja, YUP has installed more than 2,500 parking spaces nationwide, covering shopping centers, hospitals, gyms, city halls, libraries and department stores.
